Causing thousands of deaths a year, opiates have been named a nationwide epidemic. Salt Lake City is ranked number seven for the state with the most overdoses. Seeing six Utahans die a day can start to take a toll on a state and a country.

In Utah, doctors have started to prescribe a few pills at a time, meant to last for a few days. The idea is to then have the patient them come back to check in on their progress. This prevents the dependency that forms from being prescribed 30 pills at a time.

If you know someone who was a victim of a wrongful death, make sure they get in contact with the right lawyer. The cautions in place should prevent someone from accidentally dying. If you are worried about a friend please get them the help they need.
