In cooperation with the Utah Department of Transportation, the Utah Highway Patrol will increase HOV lane enforcement on I-15 in the Salt Lake City area from Oct. 13 to Oct. 16.

Per the Daily Harold, the main purpose of the increased patrol is to educate drivers about the proper use of HOV lanes. UDOT notes that most common misuses of HOV lanes are solo drivers and drivers without their Express Pass.

UHP will also educate drivers about HOV safety. While HOV lanes can be convenient and time-saving, drivers unfamiliar with HOV protocols could cause a terrible auto accident. If you find yourself a victim of a HOV lane-induced crash, a reputable lawyer can help you navigate any unfortunate repercussions.
