What Road Condition Changes to Expect in the Fall

With seasonal changes as dramatic as they are in Utah, you can also expect driving conditions to be the same. We go from temperatures in the 90s to temperatures in the 30s in a matter of a month. This change also alters what to expect as you drive from point A to point B, and our accident lawyers want you to be ready for all the upcoming conditions. Here are several realistic driving conditions to expect over the next couple of months.

Night Driving

As we get later in the year, you will notice the days growing shorter. What this means is early and late commuters will drive in the dark on their way to or from work. There is nothing wrong with driving at night, but it can be difficult for individuals who suffer from poor vision. Also, if you add rain or fog to night driving, the water can make harsh reflections on your windows.

Morning Fog

Along with shorter days come longer nights, and longer nights with cooler temperatures results in the morning fog. Essentially, fog decreases everyone’s vision, and drivers in these conditions need to slow down. Avoid using your brights and remain alert.

Rain

The more the temperature continues to change, the more we can expect an increase in precipitation. As long as temperatures remain above freezing, we can expect rain when stormy weather comes our way. However, accident lawyers warn drivers of the risk of hydroplaning on standing water. Cars, in general, do not have as good of traction in the rain, and drivers should slow down. Also, as mentioned before, if you are driving in the rain at night, be cautious of the water reflecting off of road signs, other vehicles’ lights, and any other lights on or around the road.

Snow

While we may not have to deal with it too much in the fall, there will be days where we get some early snow. The snow will likely melt before we reach winter, but for the times where snow will fall, accident lawyers caution others to stay extra vigilant when you get out on the road.

Any time you confront these types of driving conditions, you must increase your awareness for your own safety and the safety of others. Our car accident lawyers work with individuals who have been injured in driving conditions like these and want to help everyone that has dealt with an unfair result. If you or someone you know is injured in an accident due to someone else’s negligence, contact the accident lawyers here at Robert J. DeBry and Associates.
