What Happened to Randy Savage?
One of the world’s most famous professional wrestlers, Ralph Poffo, better known as “Randy Macho Man Savage,” was born on November 15, 1952, in Columbus, OH. Savage died tragically in a fatal car crash on May 20, 2011. Savage died in a tragic car accident while driving his wife in their Jeep Wrangler in Pinellas County, Florida.
Accident investigators say Savage may have experienced a “medical event” like a heart attack immediately before losing control of his Jeep and crashing head-on into a tree.
Although medical officials and investigators couldn’t make any official claims about the unnamed medical event, Savage did not survive the medical event or car crash. His wife, Barbara L. Poffo, sustained non-fatal injuries, and she survived the horrific crash.

Before his death, Savage was a long-term member of the world-famous WWE wrestling group. Savage entered the WWE when it was still called the World Wrestling Federation in 1985.
Savage joined a string of other professional wrestlers who died prematurely related to unfortunate circumstances.
