There have been some pretty crazy laws put in place since the birth of the United States in 1776. In Iowa it’s a misdemeanor to try to camouflage margarine as real butter. And in Minnesota, it’s illegal to participate in any type of game that involves the capture of a greased pig.

As crazy as some of these laws are, some state driving laws are even weirder. Thinking of tying up your pet alligator to a parking meter? Make sure you aren’t in Florida, where this is illegal (unless you pay the meter). Some of the strangest driving laws that has every auto accident lawyer from Farmington to the East Coast puzzled involve whales, ice cream trucks and comic books.

Seem strange? You’d be surprised. Here’s a breakdown of some of the craziest driving laws in the United States.
