Your kids are the most important part of your life. All you want to do is keep them safe. Once they turn 16 years old, you worry about putting them behind the wheel of a car in Provo, Utah. You want them to understand how important it is to stay safe behind the wheel. You want them to stay safe and not drive distracted. Nowadays, parents haven’t had to worry as much as they do today about their child getting behind the wheel.

Studies show that 40 percent of high schoolers admit to texting and driving on a consistent basis. It is important to talk to your teens about texting and driving. Help them understand the impact of texting and driving. You don’t want them to suffer from a car accident, cause a wrongful death or a personal injury.

Your Behavior

The first way you can best prepare your teenager for the day they start driving is to display good behavior yourself. If your teenager sees you using your phone while driving, it must be okay. The best thing you can do is put your phone on silent and put it on the glove compartment. If you happen to be in an accident, at least it wasn’t caused by distracted driving. Call a lawyer to help you through the process.

Pledge with Them

You can help your teens by pledging with them. Promise that both of you will fully focus on the road while driving. Instead of getting upset with them for texting while driving, it would be much more beneficial to sit down and talk to them about how dangerous driving distracted can be. Help them understand the after effects of getting in an accident.

They will have to deal with a lawyer, lawyer fees, insurance companies and many other things they may not even realize. Put rules into place after talking. As they follow these rules, you can reward them.
