With a crime rate typically lower than in the city or urban areas, it’s understandable why people believe suburbs are the epitome of safe. However, if we only base safety on how many murders have happened the results would be incredibly skewed. Safety is more than just about murder, there are other factors involved.

For example, if the murder rate is low but the number of car accidents happening is 100 times more frequent, then a lawyer will tell you this city is not the safest. Car accident fatalities are more prevalent in the suburbs than in the city, which means even if you don’t get murdered you can still die in an accident. It doesn’t matter where you live, St. George, Utah, or the country’s capital, car accidents will happen, although, you can lower those chances by not choosing the suburbs.
