Republican Representative Jackie Walorski died in a car accident on August 3rd. A gruesome car crash killed two of her aides, and the other vehicle’s driver was also involved in the collision. The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office was responsible for the accident investigation in Mrs. Walorski North Indiana District and released the accident report.
The Accident
Sheriff Jeff Siegel from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office released a report on August 4th saying that Mrs. Walorski was traveling in an SUV when it collided with another vehicle about half an hour after noon. All three people in the SUV: Walorski and her two aides, Zachary (27) and Emma (28), respectively, died because of the severe injuries they sustained during the accident.
A 55-year-old woman, Edith Schmucker, who was driving the other car, also died in the crash, according to the police. She was driving a Buick LeSabre and was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to eyewitness and video evidence, the RAV4 containing Rep. Jackie Walorski was responsible for the crash as it drifted into the lane with oncoming traffic.
Political Career
Walorski was born in South Bend and lived near Elkhart, Indiana. She had a passion for serving others, as is evidenced by the foundation she and her husband, Dean Swihart started in Romania to distribute food and medical supplies to poor children. She worked in T.V before entering politics.
Rep. Walorski served three terms in the state’s legislature before being elected to represent Indiana’s 2nd Congressional District in 2012. Rep. Walorski was the leading Republican on the House Ethics Committee and served on the Ways and Means Committee.
Rep. Walorski was an ardent servant of the people and had a glorious political career. She will be sorely missed by many.
