Gary Ridgway’s “The Green River Killer”

The killing spree of American serial killer Gary Ridgway devastated tens of families. Because even after his arrest and sentencing, the people affected still suffer the consequences. But there is hope. Devastated families often find solace in Robert J. DeBry & Associates when looking for wrong death verdicts. We allocate a wrongful death lawyer to work the case till the families get the justice they deserve.

The Highest Number of Confirmed Murders

Gary Ridgway is the second most prolific serial killer in the United States. He confessed to killing at least 71 people, all women between 14 and 26 years. These women we often prostitute or involved in other vulnerable circumstances. Before his confession, the authorities believed the number to be 49.

The authorities linked the murders of 4 women, Cynthia Hinds, Carol Ann Christensen, Marcia Chapman, and Opal Mills, through DNA profiling evidence. Conclusive semen and saliva matches later linked three more victims Wendy Coffield, Debra Bonner, and Debra Estes. Ridgway entered a plea deal to plead guilty on future cases in King County, corroborated by reliable evidence. This plea deal spared him the death penalty. At the time of the plea deal, the total number of murder victims was 48.

The Arrest of the Green River Killer

The investigation team subjected samples collected in 1987 to DNA profiling. On November 30, 2001, the police had enough evidence for an arrest warrant. They arrived at the Kenworth truck factory, where Gary Ridgway worked as a spray painter, and arrested him.
