Xarelto, also known as Rivaroxaban, is a prescription blood thinner that stops blood coagulation. It is usually given to patients who go through joint replacement surgery or have non-valvular atrial fibrillation. The drug is manufactured by Bayer and it was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in July 2011.
However, in August 2013, the FDA required Bayer to change Xarelto’s warning label because of the increased risk of serious bleeding, stroke, blood clots and other side effects linked to those using Xarelto. Additionally, patients who stop taking Xarelto have a greater chance of suffering from thrombotic events like spinal/epidural hematomas, pulmonary embolisms and more.
As a widely used drug, Xarelto is probably used by somebody you know. If you know somebody who has suffered or is suffering from any of these negative conditions as a result of using Xarelto, don’t hesitate to call us today for a free evaluation of the case.
